Bramberg Museum

Since 1979 Bramberg Museum has been located in Wilhelmgut, one of the oldest buildings in Bramberg. The configuration of this collection of items presenting local history started towards the end of the 1950s and is continually being expanded upon..

To make it easier for visitors to get their bearings in Bramberg Museum, a colour guide system takes you through the various collections. In the lower section of the building you can get an idea of the wealth of minerals in the Hohe Tauern via the impressive National Park exhibition and marvel at the sparkling emeralds, for which Habachtal is world-renowned. Refurbishment and extension works in 2010 created a new section and contemporary layout of the minerals department in Bramberg Museum.

The upper section of the building is dedicated to regional and local cultural history. Here you get to find out more about the history of the Wilhelmgut building, about life at that time in the emerald village of Bramberg am Wildkogel, religious folk art and about the region’s multifarious flora and fauna. The roof section has another core theme in Bramberg Museum: A historic bee-keeping exhibition, including a live beehive.

The exterior of Bramberg Museum has 11 original buildings in total and a mining section which is definitely worth exploring.
