Tobogganing - Wildkogel Arena

...on the longest toboggan run in the world!

Tobogganing on the Wildkogel

As ‘probably the friendliest holiday area’ the Wildkogel Arena has had so many people already on side for quite a while. And with the longest floodlit toboggan run in the world the Arena has logged another, possibly record-breaking highlight. But before you get going, enjoy a comfortable journey up into the lofty heights on the Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen or the Smaragdbahn in Bramberg, along with your ‘hot sleds’ .

Evening journeys for tobogganers (ascent by 18.30) - on Fridays via the Smaragdbahn Bramberg (provided weather conditions are appropriate) - On other days, ascent is available until 16.15.

On the route spanning a whopping 14 km to Bramberg, tobogganers cover an unbelievable elevation difference of 1300 metres. Anything goes when it comes to downhilling – whether it is a speedy racing sled, cosy toboggan or a streamlined bob. A tobogganing session lasts between 30 – 50 minutes, depending on ability level.

Incidentally: The toboggan run is floodlit along the entire route until 22.00 – which provides an extra hit into the night.

NOTE: Please reserve your tobogganing session well in advance! Toboggans, sleds and bobs are available to hire in the sports shops in Neukirchen and Bramberg.

There are a few rules to pay attention to for enjoyable tobogganing:

  • Always hold on tightly to your toboggan strap to avoid any unnecessary risks for other people in your toboggan, and avoid losing the actual toboggan.
  • Get information about the snow and weather conditions on (+43 (0)6565 6205 Wildkogelbahnen snow telephone).
  • Appropriate attire is required to really be able to enjoy your ride. For children in particular (from the age of 3 or 4), we recommend ski goggles, scarf, hat, ski trousers or gaiters, gloves, sturdy boots – no ski shoes. Children up to, and including, the age of 6, should travel in a toboggan with their parents!
  • You can get from Bramberg back to the valley station for the Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen on the free ski bus.
  • Tip: It is safer for children to wear a helmet while they are tobogganing.
