Hikes in the summer and in autumn are the loveliest way to experience the natural surroundings in our Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region up close and enjoy unforgettable moments during your holiday in the Wildkogel Arena. Lush Alpine pastures, deep blue mountain lakes and incomparable panoramic views await you.

Numerous hiking routes proceed from the mountain stations for the Wildkogelbahn and the Smaragdbahn through the altitude hiking area of the Wildkogel. The incomparable panorama of the Wildkogel is the perfect stage for the Panorama- and Slide hiking trails, and also for circuit trails with adventures to the summits. After a day of hiking filled with so many lovely views, the cosy restaurants tempt to you to pop to enjoy a rest and enjoy some delicious Pinzgau treats. And while parents are enjoying the beneficial sunshine at 2100 m altitude, children get to run about in the play stations at the Kogel-Mogel adventure arena.

Along with hikes in the Wildkogel altitude hiking area, there are also variety-packed educational and themed paths and hiking routes in Unter- and Obersulzbachtal, in Habachtal, Trattenbachtal and Dürnbachtal, as well as Mühlbachtal. There are so many different hikes in the Wildkogel-Arena, from adventure-filled family hikes with various play and discovery stations, to moderately difficult hikes and challenging hiking tours. Another highlight is a hike at Europe's highest waterfalls, Krimml Waterfalls, which are just 10 km away.

Guided hikes with experienced hiking guides are available too. The hiking guides know the region like the back of their hand and will show you the loveliest viewing points and hidden gems in the Wildkogel Arena.

The new Hohe Tauern Panorama Trail links the altitude hiking paths around the Wildkogel Arena, creating one of the longest long-distance hiking paths in the Alps. 17 stages take in a total of 275 kilometres of paths, 14,000 metres ascent and 96 hours of walking.

Habachtal in Bramberg is the most mineral rich valley in the Hohe Tauern. The only deposits of emeralds in Europeare found here too. Numerous precious stones which have been found in Habachtal are exhibited in major museums and exhibition spaces.

A splendid 42 carat emerald found by an English man is said to be a integral element of the British crown jewels today. Habachtal is a hub for gem hunters.
